Riverfest

An annual event drawing in tens of thousands of locals and tourists alike, the Wilmington Riverfest is eagerly looked forward to every year. A cultural street festival, the celebration occurs on the first full weekend of October, the fair includes delicious food vendors and talented artisans, beauty queen pageants, a fireworks display, live music, vintage car exhibitions, and more! Get Outside!

Fall Farmers Markets

From farm-fresh vegetables and fruits to farmstead cheeses and homemade baked goods, these markets are a perfect way to experience the delicious variety of farm-to-table food.

Residents at Porters Neck Village enjoy a wide variety of farmers markets, all just a quick drive away. The Riverfront Farmers’ Market, located in historic downtown Wilmington, is free and occurs every Saturday from April through November. Here you’ll find locally grown, locally produced, and locally made food, crafts, and more! The Wrightsville Beach Farmers’ Market is also close by, open Monday mornings from May through December, as well as the local-produce-only Wilmington Farmers Market at Tidal Creek, open Saturdays year-round. 

Art Fairs

For those who love to browse and shop, Wilmington offers a host of art markets to choose from. The free HDWM Artisan Market, open Sundays from April through October, offers handcrafted creations by some of the area’s best local artists. The annual Burgwin-Wright Fall Market, taking place in mid-October every year, features over 30 local artisans, with vendors located throughout an acre of beautiful gardens. 

Local Farms

For more farm-fresh produce, head to Trask Family Farms. A family-owned and operated farm for five generations, you’ll find fresh produce stands, pick-your-own flowers and tomatoes, and delicious drinks and snacks. Have family or guests visiting? Kids and adults alike will love the Fall Corn and Sunflower Mazes and dozens of amazing photo opportunities! 

Holiday Fairs

Mark your calendars for these holiday markets happening later in the season! Kick off the winter season with the Kure Beach Holiday Market, open Saturdays in late November. The Carolina Beach Holiday Market and Holiday Market at the BAC also both take place in early December and are perfect opportunities to get a jump on your Christmas and winter holiday shopping!

After enjoying the brisk weather outside, you’ll want to come in and warm up! Happily, there are plenty of amazing indoor activities for seniors right at Porters Neck Village.
